OUR PROJECTIONS IN THE FUTURE

FESD Future Goals
As part of our long-term commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and community empowerment, FESD has set the following ambitious goals :

1. Expand Environmental Clubs to 20+ Schools
We aim to establish and support environmental clubs in over 20 primary and secondary schools across Rusizi and Nyamasheke Districts. These clubs will :

Educate students on climate change, biodiversity, and environmental conservation.

Encourage hands-on activities such as tree planting, waste collection, and school gardening.

Inspire the next generation of environmental stewards and climate leaders.

2. Grow 100,000+ Tree Seedlings
Through our nurseries in Rusizi District, we will produce and distribute over 100,000 agroforestry and fruit tree seedlings to :

Combat soil erosion and deforestation.

Promote food security and nutrition through communities and school fruit trees.

Support afforestation efforts in schools, communities, in Rusizi District

3. Train Farmers in Sustainable Practices
We will organize capacity-building programs for farmers to adopt eco-friendly and climate-resilient practices, including :

Agroforestry and permaculture.

Organic composting and reduced chemical use.

Improved animal husbandry and apiculture.

Climate-smart irrigation techniques.

♻️ 4. Awareness Campaign on Plastic Conservation and Recycling
FESD will launch a district-wide awareness campaign to :

Educate communities, especially youth, on the dangers of plastic pollution.

Promote plastic collection initiatives at schools, marketplaces, and riverbanks.

Introduce our plan to build a plastic transformation plant that recycles waste into valuable construction materials like tiles, pavements, bricks, and planks.

Foster a circular economy that creates green jobs and protects ecosystems.

These goals are in alignment with Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation (NST2) and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly :
